NDP members are hysterical over the news that Alberta Premier Danielle Smith will be featured in a live speaking event alongside Tucker Carlson in January 2024.

Alberta NDP suffer meltdown over news Premier Smith will meet Tucker Carlson

On Tuesday morning, it was announced that Smith and Carlson will speak together at the TELUS Convention Centre in Calgary. Local entrepreneur and philanthropist W. Brett Wilson will moderate their discussion.

Lethbridge NDP MLA Shannon Phillips subsequently implied that Smith is a racist for meeting the “white nationalist” Carlson.

“Tucker Carlson is a pro-Putin white nationalist, so naturally Danielle Smith is scheduled to help him promote his event in Calgary in January,” she said.

Phillips’ post was reposted by NDP MLA Janis Irwin.

Another NDP MLA, David Shepherd, likewise called Carlson a white nationalist.

“Shannon’s right. Carlson’s been a loud promoter of ‘Great Replacement Theory’ & other white nationalist ideas. Not someone the Premier of a diverse province should be giving time, particularly at a time of rising antisemitism & Islamophobia.”

And NDP MLA for Calgary-Elbow, Samir Kayande, suggested Smith is pro-Russia.

“Our premier should not be sharing the stage with a shill for Putin’s aggression against Ukraine. The Premier is on record supporting Ukraine’s dismemberment. Now this. I stand with Ukraine. Does the Premier?”

Since being fired from Fox News, Carlson has been posting free video content on X, including interviews with high-profile guests such as Donald Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Dave Portnoy. The show has been popular, with one episode featuring an interview with Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of murder, drawing over 5 million viewers.
