Federal agents have allegedly found sufficient evidence to charge Hunter Biden with tax fraud and a false statement related to a gun purchase.
David C. Weiss, a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney in Delaware, will supervise the case.
The Washington Post reported the breaking news from an anonymous source.
The investigation started all the way back in 2018. During months leading up to the 2020 election, controversy exploded surrounding Hunter Biden after his laptop was discovered, but largely suppressed by media outlets including social media giants Twitter and Facebook.
Biden’s lawyer Chris Clark responded to request for comment by suggesting investigators may have illegally leaked information.
“It is a federal felony for a federal agent to leak information about a Grand Jury investigation such as this one,” he said.
“Any agent you cite as a source in your article apparently has committed such a felony. We expect the Department of Justice will diligently investigate and prosecute such bad actors. As is proper and legally required, we believe the prosecutors in this case are diligently and thoroughly weighing not just evidence provided by agents, but also all the other witnesses in this case, including witnesses for the defense. That is the job of the prosecutors. They should not be pressured, rushed, or criticized for doing their job.”
Additionally, as reported by Zero Hedge, the FBI faces a lawsuit that seeks to make public conversations the agency had with Facebook regarding the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story from 2020.
“The evidence is that during the 2020 Presidential election campaign, the FBI conspired and combined with large corporations, including Facebook, to censor and suppress the damning evidence of Biden family corruption and influence peddling found on Hunter Biden’s laptop,” said the group leading the lawsuit – America First Legal (AFL).
