Under the leadership of former graphic designer and Liberal Health Minister Patty Hajdu the reputation of Canada’s public healthcare system has been flushed down the toilet.
Commonwealth Fund just released a report ranking 11 developed countries’ healthcare and Canada placed second last.
According to the report’s comparative health care system performance scores Canada placed well below the average coming just ahead of the United States which was in last place.
When it comes to specific parameters, Canada also placed 10th in categories like equity and health-care outcomes.
“Compared to the other countries, the United States and Canada had larger income-related inequities in patient reported experiences,” wrote the report’s authors.
After years of the Liberals accusing Conservatives of underfunding Canada’s healthcare, their charade is over – it turns out graphic designers don’t make the best Health Ministers.
In fact, it was under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s watch that Canada was vastly underprepared for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even though concerned officials with the Public Health Agency of Canada warned Trudeau that the country’s National Emergency Strategic Stockpile (NESS) was desperately low in February 2020, the Trudeau government didn’t act until March.
What was Justin Trudeau’s genius plan to restore the stockpile? He purchased overpriced knock-off personal protective equipment from China with Canadians’ hard-earned dollars.
With all of these red flags, Hajdu still refuses to take any responsibility for destroying Canada’s healthcare system’s reputation around the world, instead all she had to offer reporters were excuses.
“The federal government isn’t really in the business of providing personal protective equipment for provinces and territories,” said Hajdu.
“The Public Health Agency of Canada is a very small Agency. Successive rounds of governments have not made substantial investments in the Public Health Agency.”
The Liberals healthcare screw up is estimated to have had a $1.8 billion price tag. With that kind of money, Canada might have been able to mitigate some of the worst impacts of COVID-19, but instead it went to rich Chinese executives profiting off the pandemic.
