Canadians now have conclusive proof that the Chinese military infiltrated a top-secret microbiology lab right under the Liberal government’s noses.
New reports indicate that one of the two fugitive scientists that the RCMP is investigating for sharing classified information with China partnered with a top military officer in the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Additionally, the PLA is not like any regular army: their sole prerogative and loyalty is to the Chinese Communist Party and not the Chinese people themselves. They are essentially a revolutionary guard tasked with ensuring the success of communism at home and abroad.
Scientist Xiangguo Qiu, whom the Winnipeg National Microbiology Laboratory fired along with her husband Keding Chang, wrote two papers in partnership with PLA Major-General Chen Wei.
Both Wei and Chang were escorted from the premises following an RCMP raid on the facility.
The two scientists co-authored studies on the highly infectious disease Ebola, which the lab is equipped to study and handle.
Despite the officer’s high rank, the published study never mentioned her ties to the PLA.
It’s not currently clear whether the government was aware that Chen was a high-ranking army officer and one of China’s leading military epidemiologists before they approved the collaboration.
The Trudeau government has provided very little information on this national security incident despite past promises made towards transparency and accessibility.
At the same time, the Public Health Agency of Canada is even refusing to say whether Major-General Chen ever stepped foot in the Level 4 laboratory.
Imagine the damage it could do to the Liberal government if it were revealed that they let a foreign agent stroll through a facility where some of the nation’s top scientific secrets are stored.
“All visitors including researchers collaborating with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) must adhere to Government of Canada and PHAC security protocols, procedures and policies and must be escorted by an employee with a Secret clearance at all times,” PHAC spokesman Mark Johnson said.
Who knows the kind of information China could have accessed through such an event?
