A CTV reporter accidentally admitted on live TV that her entire network didn’t want the UCP to beat the NDP in Alberta’s election.

CTV accidentally admits they “hoped” NDP would be victorious on live TV

On Monday night, Premier Danielle Smith of the UCP claimed victory in the provincial election, beating out Opposition NDP leader Rachel Notley. Smith will remain the province’s Premier, but this is Smith’s first time being elected.

The host of CTV’s coverage, Erin Isfeld, made the slip up while announcing the winner of the Calgary-Peigan riding.

“Certainly we are seeing the NDP not make the gains that we were hoping fo — ah, that we were …” the CTV reporter said.

Later, when calling the election in favour of the UCP government, Isfeld said “We’ve seen how this hasn’t really materialized for the NDP here tonight, and that is why at this point we are ready here at CTV to call this a United Conservative Majority.”

The CTV anchor was a moderator of the one and only debate between Smith and Notley on May 18.

The Counter Signal reached out to CTV for comment but did not hear back before publication.

The shocking mask slip by a prominent mainstream reporter shows what Premier Smith has been up against — and will be up against moving forward.

The mainstream media has been biased towards Notley and the NDP — and the Trudeau Liberals — while pretending to be balanced.

The CBC even attacked Smith by alleging her office meddled with crown prosecutors over non-violent border blockade-related charges that Smith was sympathetic to. Later, CBC admitted they didn’t actually verify the damning claims that they printed.

In other words, the network relied on an anonymous source to run with its article, without verifying the claims, and that issue became the mainstream media’s focus for the two months leading up to the election.

Subsequently, an Ethics Commissioner cleared Smith of wrongdoing in relation to allegations she interfered with the Crown Prosecutor Service.

Over the course of the election, Smith even had to preemptively fend off attacks from the CBC.

Last month, Smith issued a letter demanding CBC retract its defamatory article – and condemned New Democrat Party leader Rachel Notley for propagating it.
