Various reports reveal that notorious anti-gun critic and Hollywood star Alec Baldwin allegedly killed a crew member on the set of his new film “Rust” today.
According to police, 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died following the incident, and director Joel Souza was wounded.
Baldwin previously made several controversial statements about former US President Donald Trump, whom he impersonated on Saturday Night Live, specifically President Trump’s support for the second amendment.
In 2017, the actor tweeted, “I wonder how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone…” in response to a police shooting.
More controversially, in 2018, following the Parkland school shooting, Baldwin used the opportunity to ‘slam’ Trump on the gun control issue, suggesting the President might do it, even to the “whites,” but probably not because he’s just so terrible and dimwitted.
“Tonight, I am here to bring you a message of healing and a show of unity,” Baldwin-Trump said while reading off a notecard — because Trump’s just that dumb, get it. “I hear you, and I care. Rent ‘Lego Ninjago Movie.’ Sorry, Eric scribbled some notes on there, too.”
He then segued into loose comments about a supposed incestuous relationship.
Following Baldwin’s accidental shooting, Hutchins was immediately flown to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, where she succumbed to her wounds.
Meanwhile, Souza is currently being treated for his injuries at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe.
According to the Sheriff, Hutchins and Souza were shot by a prop firearm fired by Baldwin, who plays a leading role in the film and is also a producer.
No arrests were made or charges laid in the incident, and the killing remains an “open and active” investigation.
Baldwin or his team has not yet commented on what took place.
“The Santa Fe County sheriff’s office confirms that two individuals were shot during filming of a scene on the set of the movie western ‘Rust,'” the office said in its initial statement.
According to investigators, it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged. Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged.
Baldwin has not been charged with any crime by local authorities.
