A Norwegian filmmaker is facing up to three years in prison for a Facebook post she wrote saying men cannot be lesbians.
“It’s just as impossible for men to become a lesbian as it is for men to become pregnant. Men are men regardless of their sexual fetishes,” said filmmaker Tonje Gjevjon, as reported by Fox News.
Then last month, authorities informed Gjevjon she’s under investigation for violating hate speech laws.
Gjevjon, an actual lesbian, reportedly made the post to challenge her country’s 2020 amendments to hate speech laws. Under the amendment, “Homosexual orientation” was changed to “sexual orientation,” and “gender, gender identity, and expression” were added to protect both homosexual individuals and transgender identities from hate speech.
According to the country’s penal code, violation of hate speech laws can result in a maximum of three years in prison.
Gjevjon has been outspoken regarding her country’s kowtowing to transgender activists.
Last year, she called out the equality minister on social media.
“Will the equality minister take action to ensure that lesbian women’s human rights are safeguarded, by making it clear that there are no lesbians with penises, that males cannot be lesbians regardless of their gender identity, and by tidying up the mess of the harmful gender policies left behind by the previous government?” she asked.
The equality minister replied, “I do not share an understanding of reality where the only two biological sexes are to be understood as sex. Gender identity is also important.”
Similarly, in 2017, Canada added gender identity and expression to the Criminal Code hate speech law and added the group to the Canadian Human Rights Act.
