On September 14, the People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier announced his official policy and stance on gender identity and related issues.
Bernier began his announcement by saying that all people, regardless of sexuality or gender, should be respected and “enjoy the same rights as every other Canadian.”
He also said that legal adults who are capable of consent should be able to make their own decisions regarding any surgeries they wish to undergo and can identify however they please.
“However, with the active support of the woke far-left and Trudeau’s Liberals, a minority of radical trans activists are trying to transform society in a way that curtails everyone’s freedoms,” continued Bernier.
“This radical agenda is particularly harmful to women, children, gays, and lesbians. Bill C-6 recognized gender self-identification and opened the door to compelled speech,” said Bernier. “Since then, businesses [and] government agencies have banned the use of words like ‘woman’ and ‘mother’ in favour of ‘menstruating people’ and ‘birthing people,’ which negates the existence of women.”
Bernier then addresses some trans women, of whom some are criminals, utilizing trans rights and activists to approach vulnerable women in changing rooms and bathrooms across the country. Moreover, Bernier says that some biological males are now being incarcerated in women’s prisons, where they continue to threaten biological females.
“Women have to unfairly compete with biological men in women’s sports,” continued Bernier.
“Boys and girls suffering from gender dysphoria are being encouraged to start [transitioning] when most of them would grow up to be healthy gays or lesbians.”
Bernier then says that Liberals are using Bill C-6 to prevent such children from seeking therapy instead of destroying their bodies.
“A People’s Party government would repeal Bill C-16 and modify C-6 to protect children from predatory doctors and activists,” stated Bernier.
“We will protect women and men from intrusions by members of the opposite sex, and we will maintain sports for women in which biological men cannot participate,” he concluded.
