On Friday, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe announced that he will require COVID-positive people to self-isolate but refuses to break his promise by enforcing vaccine and mask mandates.
“The fourth wave is concerning for all of us,” Moe said in a statement, acknowledging various stresses on the healthcare system and concerns he has for healthcare workers.
He also said that he finds the evidence for the efficacy of vaccines “overwhelming” and hopes residents will get vaccinated.
However, he reiterated his position on vaccine mandates, saying that he believes vaccination is a choice.
“In Saskatchewan, it will remain a choice, but you need to also fully understand the serious potential consequences for yourself and for our health system if you choose not to be vaccinated,” said Moe.
Moe went on to say that vaccine mandates and passport systems are “divisive” and would create “two classes of citizens,” also known as an apartheid state.
Moe has been steadfast in his opposition to such a state — though he does not believe his response to the pandemic has been significantly different — even though other Provinces have capitulated to the will of medical tyrants.
Indeed, Saskatchewan continues to remain strong against even so much as implementing mask mandates.
As per the new restrictions, positive cases will now be required to self-isolate for ten days, as will close unvaccinated contacts, but nothing else will change.
This change is the first significant alteration in policy since July 11, when the province removed all public health restrictions.
