Prime Minister Justin Trudeau celebrated ‘Trans Day of Visibility’ during one of the most holy Christian days of the year.

Trudeau celebrates ‘Trans Day of Visibility’ on Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday, the PM posted to social media: “A note to every trans Canadian on #TransDayofVisibility: You matter. You belong.”

“It’s because of your advocacy that we’ve passed laws to make our country more inclusive — from banning conversion therapy to strengthening protections against anti-trans hate,” he said.

The PM concluded: “So, thank you. Thank you for being your authentic self — and for helping to build a world where everyone can feel safe and proud to be, too.”

A number of Canadian social media users expressed shock and dismay at the Prime Minister’s message.

“Today is EASTER SUNDAY…you offend every Christian with your virtue signaling,” X user Judy Maxine said.

Feminist podcaster Meghan Murphy commented, “What you call ‘conversion therapy’ is in fact ‘letting kids being themselves’ and ‘not destroying their bodies for life while they are minors and don’t understand the long term impacts of these drugs.”

Earlier in the day on Sunday, the PM wished everyone a Happy Easter through social media.

“Happy Easter! Whether you’re celebrating this holy day by attending church services with your neighbours, hunting for Easter eggs with your kids, or spending time with your loved ones, I hope you find joy in the togetherness that Easter brings,” he said.

Notley shares petition for trans youth

Not just Trudeau but, in fact, several Canadian politicians made similar cringe-worthy posts, including NDP leader Rachel Notley.

Notley shared a petition on social media to “protect trans youth,” stating Premier Smith “launched an attack on the fundamental human rights of all Albertans” regarding her parental rights policy

The petition’s website says Smith’s policies are targeting the “safety and well-being of children” and is “attempting to stoke fear in the hearts of parents who want their kids to be safe and for schools to be a space where they can thrive.”

The petition aims to call on the Legislative Assembly to pressure Smith into backtracking from her recent policy announcements.

By receiving signatures, the NDP is hoping for youth to receive gender-affirming care, increase discussion of self-identity and sexual health in classrooms, and allow biological men to compete in women’s sports.
