Following the revelation that the UK government hosted parties nearly every weekend since the beginning of the pandemic, PM Boris Johnson announced an end to nearly every pandemic measure.

“As a result, from the start of Thursday next week, mandatory certification will end,” Johnson said to parliament on January 19. “Organizations can, of course, choose to use the NHS COVID pass voluntarily, but we will end the use of compulsory COVID certification in England.”

“From now on, the government is no longer asking people to work from home,” Johnson continued. “And people should now speak to their employers about arrangements for returning to the office. And having looked at the data carefully, that once regulations lapse, the government will no longer mandate the wearing of face masks anywhere.”

For this announcement, parliament went crazy with applause.

This is the best news out of the UK in a long time, but many surely wonder where it came from. Recently, the UK has been ramping up lockdown protocols and shilling boosters, so the ending of vaccine passports and masks truly came out of left field.

Unless, of course, you note the absolutely career-ending videos that emerged showing Boris Johnson maskless and drinking with his fellow government employees — something it was revealed has been happening nearly every Friday since the pandemic began — while citizens were being arrested for breaking those same rules.

According to the Mirror, “Sources told the Mirror that the Prime Minister encouraged aides to “let off steam” despite indoor socializing being banned under lockdown rules.”

“The regular event was so popular that staff even invested in a £142 drinks fridge to keep their bottles of white wine, Prosecco and beer cool,” the report continues.

“I know the rage they feel with me, and with the government I lead, when they think in Downing Street itself the rules are not being properly followed by the people who make the rules,” Johnson said during a public apology that no one is buying. “And though I cannot anticipate the conclusions of the current inquiry, I have learned enough to know there were things we simply did not get right, and I must take responsibility.”

As it turns out, after everything Brits were put through, the only thing needed to end the pandemic was a scandal so severe that it threatened the sitting PM’s job. Go figure.
