There’s a new contender in BC politics, and he’s ready to shake things up.
Conservative media personality Aaron Gunn has officially launched his bid to become the next leader of the BC Liberals.
I know what you’re thinking… ‘Why would a conservative want to lead a Liberal party?’
As some of you might not know, the BC Liberal Party is the main opposition in the NDP-led province and is generally considered the Conservative alternative to the dominant green-socialist alliance.
In fact, Gunn has promised to change the party’s name if elected leader to something more suitable and representative of the party’s views.
Gunn, who has done work for Canada Proud, BC Proud and the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, officially threw his hat in the race on October 9, 2021, in his hometown of Victoria.
“I am tired of standing on the sidelines. I’m tired of watching this province, this country, might I add, continue to head in the wrong direction. The policies that are being enacted are the antithesis to common sense,” Gunn said.
Already the NDP are itching to take Gunn out and unfairly paint him as a racist, angry social conservative ready to take the rights of British Columbians away, but that’s further from the truth.
Over the weekend, the NDP went on the attack by publishing a fear-mongering statement claiming that Gunn was pro-discrimination and that he shouldn’t be allowed to run in the race.
The NDP is scared of him because Gunn is running on a pro-freedom, pro-business and anti-vaccine mandate message.
“I want to be clear about this, I am vaccinated, I support vaccination, and I encourage others to get vaccinated as well, but the idea that in a country like Canada, we would coerce our own citizens into injecting something into their bodies against their will especially in situations like travel, where equally effective alternatives like rapid testing exist and are available is grossly unconstitutional,” Gunn said.
Gunn announced that he would implement other measures as leader of the party, including scrapping the carbon tax and ending the ICBC monopoly.
