According to a new poll, US President Joe Biden’s disastrous energy policy has a majority of Americans driving less due to astronomically high gas prices.
The poll conducted by Monday Morning Consult found that 57% of Americans drove less because of the price at the pump this February. Canadians are also paying record prices due to the soaring cost of gas.
The poll surveyed 2210 adults between February 17-19 and has a margin of error is + / – 2 percent.
Early in his presidency, Biden cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline, which could have brought 830,000 barrels of Western Canadian crude into the US.
At the time, Biden said the pipeline “would not be consistent with my administration’s economic and climate imperatives.”
Now Biden is scrambling to get oil from Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro while simultaneously blaming the high price of gas on Russia.
“It’s going to go up [gas prices]. Can’t do much right now. Russia is responsible,” Biden said on Tuesday after announcing a ban on Russian oil imports.
Even the media has picked up on Biden’s tagline and is spreading claims that the gas price increase resulted from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine despite the gas crisis being some time in the making.
“I expect our Democratic friends will now try to blame the entire increase in prices on our efforts to punish Russia. But don’t be fooled. This was more than a year in the making,” said Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell.
Similarly, Sen. Ted Cruz slammed Biden’s energy policy, saying it made no sense and was “completely incoherent.”
“I’ve got to say this administration’s policy when it comes to energy is completely incoherent,” Cruz said. “President Biden started literally his first day in office basically declaring war on domestic energy production. He shut down the Keystone pipeline on the first day in office, killed 11,000 jobs, 8,000 union jobs with the stroke of a pen.”
