Longtime rancher Ty Northcott has had enough with the lockdowns – and he found the most Albertan way possible to protest them: a rodeo.

Federal officers quickly arrived on scene to interrogate Northcott, asking where his “event license” was. Northcott fell short of pulling out the constitution and ordering the police off the private property, but his polite response had the same affect. Police promised to return with local officers and Alberta Health Services.

Originally planned in partnership with the Bowden Agricultural Society, Alberta Health Services sent a demand letter to the Society, threatening a sweeping revocation of food and drink licenses should they partner with Northcott’s protest rodeo.

As a result, Northcott has moved the location of the rodeo to a secret parcel of land, strategically located between two highways. The result stopped the feds from being able to blockade entry.

The goal of keeping the location secret was to give police as little advanced notice as possible to combat any sort of funny business on their end.

The “No More Lockdowns Rodeo” had over 1,000 people in attendance, and the organizer expects to receive a fine from the government.
