In a shockingly dystopian scene from Toronto, Canada, a man has been barred from entering a farmer’s market due to his vaccination status.
“We need proof of vaccination,” an employee tells the man as he approaches.
“I need proof of vaccination,” he asks.
“Yeah.”
“To get food in Canada?”
The employee continues, realizing the man is recording her and announces that the market is called Wychwood Barns Farmers Market before claiming that it’s merely a performance and events space.
“You’re preventing me from getting food in Canada,” he repeats.
The woman shrugs, clearly not giving a damn about her horrible behaviour or what barring someone based on medical status from buying food says about the state of things in Canada.
She continues, claiming that they are following the Reopening Ontario Act, o. Regulation 364/20.
But as The Peoples Media, who first published the video, explains, “Schedule 1, s 2.1(3) of the regulation, proof of vaccination is not required at event spaces “where a patron is entering an indoor area solely to make a retail purchase.”
Indeed, current restrictions in Ontario clearly and in no uncertain terms prevent grocery stores from barring the unvaccinated and are merely being ordered to reduce the overall capacity of vaccinated and unvaccinated customers.
