The identity of the Calgary Zoo machete attacker is being withheld by police, with reports indicating the male is a youth.
On December 26 at around 6:30pm, the machete wielding male attacked two individuals who both managed to escape with only minor injuries. The attacker also struck numerous vehicles in the parking lot of the Calgary Zoo / Wilder Institute.
Calgary Police later apprehended the individual, where he remains in custody. However, police have not charged the male yet.
The attack happened as the zoo’s annual “ZOOLIGHTS” attraction was taking place.
Police said the male arrived at the zoo after taking the CTrain, and appeared drunk.
