The Conservative Party is calling for an emergency meeting of the House of Commons public safety committee to investigate how Ahmed Eldidi, an alleged ISIS terrorist, was able to obtain Canadian citizenship.
The call comes a week after it was revealed that the Trudeau government granted citizenship to Ahmed Eldidi, who is now facing terrorism-related charges with his adult son Mostafa.
The RCMP has alleged that both were in the advanced stages of planning an attack in Toronto at the time of their arrest.
“This is a serious failure on the part of the Trudeau government to protect Canadian citizens from terrorism,” said Andrew Scheer, Conservative House Leader. “We need to know how someone with these alleged ties was able to come into our country and become a citizen.”
The 62-year-old Toronto resident, Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi, somehow managed to immigrate to Canada despite allegations of his involvement in a beheading on behalf of ISIS before he was granted citizenship.
The Trudeau Liberals have so far declined to explain how the Eldidi father was given citizenship. Asked how the two individuals got into Canada in the first place, the Liberal Ministers are going dark or passing the buck. The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) told Global News they were “unable to provide information” on what screening was done on the Eldidi father. CBSA said their decision was “based on the information available at a moment in time.”
The Immigration Minister simply ignored Global News, while the Public Safety Minister, Dominic LeBlanc, said to ask the RCMP.
