Corporate media pressures NHL to cancel Peterson from speaking in Ottawa

Corporate media is pressuring the NHL to prohibit Dr. Jordan Peterson from speaking at the Ottawa Senators hockey arena later this month.

Corporate media pressures NHL to cancel Peterson from speaking in Ottawa

Later this month, Peterson’s scheduled to speak at the Ottawa Senators home arena. The January 30 event is part of Peterson’s Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life tour.

This is a problem for the NHL, wrote The Hockey News and Yahoo Sports writer Ian Kennedy.

“Peterson’s direct opposition to the NHL’s inclusion efforts related to gender and sexuality, according to experts, is a contradiction to hockey’s ongoing efforts to combat homophobia and transphobia in sport and society,” Kennedy said

Last year, Peterson criticized the NHL’s uber-woke tweet that said, “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Nonbinary identity is real.”

Peterson responded by tweeting, “Not hockey too. Canada is doomed.”

Kennedy quoted a “leading hockey scholar” who said Peterson is directly opposed to the NHL’s equity, diversity, and inclusion goals.

The other cancel-worthy incident, said Kennedy, can be found in Peterson’s well-known opposition to Bill C-16.

Bill C-16 made trans identities a protected group. However, Peterson takes issue with the bill because it criminalizes wrong speech, namely through “misgendering” people, including trans people.

Kennedy’s article was subsequently quote-tweeted by Global News reporter Rachel Gilmore.

“Glad to see this getting some coverage,” she said.

“After @LiveNationON announced Peterson’s upcoming speaking gig at the @CdnTireCtr, the venue had to shut down replies on Twitter because Ottawa residents were so upset about it.”

Peterson made international news over the past two weeks due to the College of Psychologists of Ontario mandating he attends social media re-education because of complaints against him that include Peterson’s criticism of PM Justin Trudeau.

If Peterson doesn’t attend the “coaching session,” the psychologist could lose his clinical license.
