Republican governors tired of illegal migrants flooding their states just proved the hypocrisy of the open-border Democrat after a handful of migrants showed up in blue state neighbourhoods.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent dozens of migrants to the “sanctuary city” of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts and Vice President Kamala Harris’ home in Washington, DC, respectively.
Unsurprisingly, Democrats are scrambling to find any excuse not to house the migrants.
The local tourism board in Martha’s Vineyard, a Democrat stronghold and a top vacation spot for wealthy leftists, declared a “humanitarian crisis” after DeSantis flew 50 Venezuelan migrants to the island.
“This is an ongoing situation; Town Emergency Management Operations from the six island towns and the Sheriff’s Office, as well as County Management, are actively collaborating to develop a coordinated regional response,” read a statement by public information officer Heather Arpin.
“We have reached out to our State and Federal partners for additional and long term support and assistance.’’
Even the local homeless shelter told the press that migrants will have to “move from here to somewhere else.”
“At some point in time they have to move from here to somewhere else,” said shelter coordinator Lisa Belcastro.
“We cannot, we do not, have the services to take care of 50 immigrants.”
Gov. Abbott tweeted that his state was “sending migrants to (VP Harris’) backyard” so US President Joe Biden takes the border situation seriously.
“We’re sending migrants to her backyard to call on the Biden Administration to do its job & secure the border,” said Abbott.
Harris has yet to comment or address the situation, but the White House condemned the move.
