The sheer number of Canadians who dislike Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has become so hard to ignore that even the Toronto Star is reporting on it.
On Wednesday, an Angus Reid poll showed that the majority of Canadians want the scandal-plagued PM to step down.
“The majority of Canadians want Justin Trudeau to resign, new poll suggests,” read the Toronto Star’s headline.
Of the 1,878 respondents, 57% said they want Trudeau to quit. Surprisingly, Trudeau has even lost favour among many Liberal voters, with 40% of them claiming they’d prefer someone else to lead the party.
The numbers have gotten so bad for the Trudeau Liberals that some reporters — among those given access to him — have asked him directly if he plans to step down.
However, to date, the PM has said he intends to run in the next federal election.
338Canada
The latest 338Canada polling indicates that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party has reached a new low, after what was a dismal summer.
The October 15 update shows that, if an election were held today, the Trudeau Liberals would win between 63 to 123 seats. At best for the Liberal Party, those numbers would mean they would lose to a minority Conservative government.
The Conservatives would have an 83% chance of winning a majority government if an election were held today. 170 seats are required to win a majority government, and Philippe Fournier’s 338Canada shows Poilievre’s Conservatives winning somewhere between 157 to 219 seats.
Abacus Data
This latest poll follows a September 14 polling by Abacus Data that showed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s disapproval numbers are the highest since he was elected in 2015.
57% of Canadians polled disapprove of the Trudeau Liberals, compared to 29% approval.
