In an explosive testimony, a former top spy told Parliament that China has had agents working in every federal government in Canada over the last three decades.
According to Blacklock’s Reporter, Beijing’s shadow campaign included China hand-picking certain ridings in Canada which it considers to be ripe for its election interference campaigns.
This is according to a recent testimony by the chief spy in charge of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service’s (CSIS) Asia-Pacific region.
Former CSIS operative Michel Juneau-Katsuya told the federal Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics
“I can today claim openly with evidence that CSIS has known about Chinese foreign interference in Canada for at least the last 30 years,” said Juneau-Katsuya.
“Every federal government from Mr. Mulroney to Mr. Trudeau today has been compromised by agents of Communist China. Every government was informed at one point or another.”
Despite these warnings, the top spy said that Canadian federal governments chose to ignore the intelligence community’s warnings.
“Every government chose to ignore CSIS warnings,” said Juneau-Katsuya.
“Every government was infiltrated by agents of influence acting on behalf of the Chinese government. Every government took decisions that were questionable about China and can only be explained by interference exercised from within.”
“Every prime minister or their staff chose to ignore the seriousness of the threat,” he continued.
Another executive manager at CSIS told MPs that elected officials were easy pickings for the Chinese government.
“Their level of sophistication and confidence bordering on arrogance has made them probably the most daunting threat from a foreign intelligence perspective,” said Dan Stanton.
Last month, two leaked intelligence reports indicated that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau lied about his awareness of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) interfering in Canada’s elections.
