Federal Housing Minister Sean Fraser, who oversaw skyrocketing housing prices, marking an era of Liberal failure, has finally called it quits.
Along with Fraser’s imminent exit from Cabinet, he is set to leave Federal politics, potentially opting for a new political career in his home province of Nova Scotia.
Prior to serving as Housing Minister, Fraser was Canada’s Immigration Minister for nearly two years, where failures in allowing record amounts of temporary workers, illegal migrants and foreign students, sent housing prices soaring.
Ironically, Trudeau then shuffled his cabinet, appointing Fraser to Housing Minister.
Trudeau and Fraser colluded to suggest that mass immigration was a solution to fix the housing crisis as recently as April of this year, but flip-flopped in October when they announced they would reduce their targets.
Reports suggest that Fraser is potentially eyeing a provincial leadership bid of the Nova Scotia Liberals, a party defeated by Tim Houston’s Progressive Conservatives for the second consecutive time last month.
Fraser was one of a number of Liberal MPs who falsely blamed climate change on Nova Scotia’s biggest forest fire in recorded history, before Canadians learned it was actually started by an arsonist.
Freeland fired, quits cabinet
On this dramatic Monday morning, another Liberal, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, has also resigned from Cabinet, citing her differing views with the Prime Minister after Trudeau attempted to shuffle her post.
Freeland was notably complicit in the Liberal’s failure on housing. Earlier this year, she boasted about the government’s housing policy while standing in front of $2,500 a month single bedrooms in Etobicoke.
Sky high rent and housing has sent young adults back to their parent’s basements, and the Liberals’ polling numbers to the dump. Conservatives have a 21-point lead according to polls, with Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre looking set to become Canada’s next Prime Minister in 2025.
This ongoing cabinet reshuffle could be a part of Trudeau’s plan to insert Liberal elitist, Mark Carney into Trudeau’s sinking ship.
