FIRE SHANDRO: Calgarians rally for freedom, demand release of jailed pastor Tim Stephens

Saturday afternoon Albertans gathered at the Calgary Remand Centre to protest the wrongful arrest of pastor Tim Stephens and call for an end to the madness of COVID-19 authoritarianism.

Stephens has remained incarcerated for weeks for the crime of being a Christian, prompting American Senator Josh Hawley to request Canada be placed on a watch list of countries threatening religious liberty.

The arrests of pastors have not been a surprise to Alberta’s Minister of Health, Tyler Shandro, who has remained unmoved by videos of Stephens’ crying children while police carry out his thuggish orders.

We have launched a petition to Jason Kenney to fire him, as a result of his sustained incompetence throughout this pandemic, leading to “lives and livelihoods” being lost.

You can sign the petition by clicking here.

Less than two weeks ago, Calgary police hauled Stephens away from his wife and crying children after he held a regular outdoor worship service at his church, Fairview Baptist Church.

This is not the first time that Calgary Police Service thugs have thrown innocent Christians in jail. Stephens was first arrested on May 16 but was released after it was discovered that the arrest had breached his Charter rights.

Unelected public health officials should not have the power to make laws that strip us of our rights. Police should not be allowed to wrench fathers away from their terrified children just because they led a church service.

Now that Alberta is moving out of this pandemic, it’s time for Canadians to collectively reject these totalitarian measures and wrestle our freedoms back from the government.

Saturday’s Rally for Freedom featured speeches by Independent MP Derek Sloan, President of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms John Carpay, Pastor Jacob Reaume and Pastor Michael Thiessen.

I also attended to cover the event and to give my support to Pastor Stephens and the numerous others who have had to endure imprisonment and violence at the hands of COVID-19 sycophants.

Those who attended were worried police may crack down on the event. As I reported in May, disgraced Calgary police chief Mark Neufeld has no problem with arresting protestors he and his handlers disagree with.
