The Halton Regional Police Service has arrested four individuals, all Indian nationals on student visas, in connection with multiple vehicle break-ins in Oakville, Ontario.

Four Indian nationals on student visas charged for breaking into cars, theft

The four were accused of breaking into cars, specifically targeting items inside the vehicles.

On the morning of November 24, 2024, HRPS officers responded to reports of vehicle break-ins in the Rosehill Dr. and Shady Glen Rd. area.

During the investigation, officers identified three suspects who arrived in a white Honda Civic sedan. The suspects targeted vehicles parked in residential driveways and on the street, breaking windows to snatch items inside.

They stole various personal items, including cash, debit cards, and credit cards, with a total of 25 vehicles affected. Some of the stolen debit and credit cards were later used for purchases at commercial locations across the GTA.

Police charged Gurparkar Singh, 19, Akshdeep Singh and Kanavpreet Singh, both 20, and Dilpreet Singh, 21, with mischief under $5,000.

“All four accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing. Each accused is currently in Canada on a student Visa,” the police report states.

The number of foreign students claiming asylum in Canada has shot up over 15 times in just 5 years, a clear indication of abuse of the system to stay in the country.

About 14,000 foreign students who’ve come to Canada this year alone through a study permit or visa have claimed they are in need of asylum.
