The end of shadow banning, Conservative accounts blowing up — in the 48 hours since Elon Musk bought Twitter, many changes are afoot. Here are just four.
Conservative accounts saw massive uptick in followers overnight
Some prominent Twitter users — all who tend to trigger radical leftists — have seen dramatic rises in their followers.
There are a few possible explanations for these sudden increases. First, previously deactivated accounts may have come back to Twitter following the news of Elon Musk taking over.
There are also reports of suspended accounts getting reinstated. Additionally, Twitter algorithms and shadow bans designed to suppress accounts may have been lifted, making the sudden increases ‘corrections’ to what would’ve been the case without them.
Celebrity and Twitter staff meltdown over Elon Musk’s purchase
Naturally, some celebrities are threatening to leave or have made their “last tweet,” and some Twitter employees have threatened to quit, although they’re apparently getting at least six months of continuous employment before any staffing changes are made.
It’s worth noting that Musk reached out to anyone considering an exodus from Twitter, perhaps seeking stability for a clearly shaken group of people — and his company!
Policy changes ahead?
Twitter’s censorship policies clearly concern Elon, as well. Yesterday he responded to a tweet that touched on Twitter’s censorship of the New York Post’s Hunter Biden ‘laptop from hell’ story (which turned out to be true) and ripped on Twitter executives left-wing bias.
Ironically, despite this censorship, Twitter recently compared the Canadian government to a communist country for the government’s ‘Online Harms’ initiative that would give them control over the flow of information through Twitter.
Big Tech threatens Twitter?
The push-back against free speech from leftist corporations has begun.
Since Musk successfully bought Twitter, it’s being reported Apple and Google may disable the Twitter app from being downloadable – just like they do with other apps they don’t like, such as Gab.
Regardless, one thing’s for certain: Musk’s taking over Twitter is causing an instant flurry of activity.
