Israeli hospitals snub government’s request to COVID test every patient

The Israeli government has requested that the country’s hospitals subject every admitted patient to a COVID test, but hospital officials will not be obliging.

Israeli hospitals snub government’s request to COVID test every patient

On Sunday, the Ministry of Health sent a letter to all hospital CEOs in Israel, requesting they implement COVID testing (PCR tests) on all incoming patients, to allow the government to understand COVID morbidity.

The government’s letter stated doing so would allow them to “set a policy accordingly.”

In response, the General Public Hospital Managers’ Forum have reportedly fired back a letter to the Ministry of Health, indicating they will not comply.

“With great respect, the amount of patients arriving for hospitalization due to Covid is low, therefore it may be preferable to conduct this testing survey in the community where most of the patients with respiratory symptoms are located and there will be a more significant effect to the survey there,” the letter reads, as translated by Twitter user @GalG____, an Israeli lawyer.

“The public hospitals will continue to perform PCR tests according to clinical judgment,” the letter said, arguing that testing every admitted patient would strain time, money, and resources.

Ottawa hospital re-implements mask mandate

On Wednesday, the Ottawa Hospital re-implemented its mask mandate in certain areas due to their anticipation of increased transmission of the flu, COVID, and RSV.

The hospital stated on X (formerly Twitter) that “Beginning September 11, masking will be required in all clinical areas and waiting rooms. Clinical areas include inpatient units, patient rooms, nursing stations, and ambulatory care areas.”

“Masking will continue to be encouraged, but optional, in all other non-clinical areas,” the statement added.

Their statement comes on the same day that the World Health Organization urged everyone to get COVID vaccinated or boosted for the umpteenth time.

“Our message is not to wait to get an additional dose if it’s recommended to you,” WHO director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.

Earlier this week, it was announced that US President Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, was infected with COVID.

While mainstream media outlets are currently trying to revive the COVID hysteria of 2020, the virus is not expected to cause a severe amount of illnesses and death this season.
