Speaking in parliament, Liberal MP Pam Damoff announced that she and other MPs, a senator, and Action Canada would be getting together to celebrate “the power of vulvas and vaginas.”
“Vaginas and vulvas are a source of strength, empowerment, and pleasure. Yet, throughout our lives, we’ve been taught that the terms vulva and vagina do not have a place in polite conversation. That’s one more way that the bodies of over half the world’s population are stigmatized, sexualized, and objectified,” Damoff said.
“With the recent news in the United States regarding Roe v. Wade, conversations about sexual and reproductive health are more important than ever, and it starts here on Parliament Hill,” Damoff continued.
“We need to reclaim space in health, research, politics, policy-making, [and] the doctor’s office to celebrate the power of vulvas and vaginas. It’s 2022, and we shouldn’t be embarrassed or ashamed to talk about our bodies.”
Damoff then declared that she would be joining other MPs from across the country, as well as a senator and Action Canada, in celebrating vaginas as “powerful and important.”
While rather comical, given the country’s current trajectory under Trudeau’s government and the enshrining of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation following the mass graves hoax, Canada could one day have a Nation Day of Vulvas and Vaginas.
