Elon Musk came out strongly against vaccine mandates on Tuesday, mocking government authorities, media, and Big Pharma for being so wrong about the COVID vaccine.
“My concern was more the outrageous demand that people *must* take the vaccine and multiple boosters to do anything at all,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“That was messed up.”

Musk also posted a video that spotlighted the media’s reporting of the COVID vaccine’s effectiveness, which went from 100% to well less than 50% within just two years.
“Until the Supreme Court invalidated Biden’s exec order, SpaceX and many other companies would have been forced to fire anyone who refused to get vaccinated! We would not have done so. I would rather go to prison than fire good people who didn’t want to be jabbed,” he said.
He added that he got three COVID shots, but his third nearly sent him to the hospital.
Musk further questioned whether individuals’ supposed COVID symptoms are actually COVID vaccine adverse reactions, before adding that he still believes in vaccines.
“However, the cure cannot be potentially worse than the disease. And public debate over efficacy should not be shut down. There is also great potential for curing many diseases using synthetic mRNA, so let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water,” he said.
Vaccine skepticism
In July, after Lebron James’ 18-year old son Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest during basketball practice, Musk expressed concern that the COVID vaccine may have been responsible.
Upon learning the news, Musk said “We cannot ascribe everything to the vaccine, but, by the same token, we cannot ascribe nothing.”
He added, “Myocarditis is a known side-effect. The only question is whether it is rare or common.”
