NDP MP Don Davies criticized a February 18th Angus Reid poll suggesting potential NDP voters might shift to the Liberals under Mark Carney’s leadership.

Davies alleged it was a Liberal-funded poll conducted by Liberal pollsters, and claimed this was a common pre-election tactic.
Davies pointed out that in the 2011 federal election, the NDP was polled at 13% national support but eventually won 103 seats, forming the official opposition for the first time in Canadian history under Jack Layton’s leadership.
When “Liberal pundit” Evan Scrimshaw criticized Davies’ claim as “insane,” Davies stood his ground.
The February 18th poll has been cited by numerous mainstream media outlets portraying Carney as the ideal Liberal leader and suggesting the Liberals are “gaining ground”.
Carney appears to be the Liberal leadership frontrunner, ahead of Chrystia Freeland and Karina Gould, with support from Trudeau’s cabinet and key minority demographics.
Recently, Conservative MP Michael Barrett called on Carney to disclose his business dealings and financial interests, questioning his ethics given his background on the board of Brookfield, a company with over a trillion Canadian dollars in assets.
