PPC Leader Maxime Bernier is standing with truckers fighting the mandate. Meanwhile, ‘Conservative’ Leader Erin O’Toole refuses to weigh in on the issue, saying it’s not his place to support protesters.

“It’s not for the leader of the opposition or a political party to attend a protest on the hill or a convoy. It’s up to politicians to advocate for solutions in a cost-of-living crisis, in a supply chain crisis in a way that’s responsible and respectful of the public health crisis we’re in,” O’Toole finally said after dodging several other questions about the protest.

Indeed, one look at O’Toole’s Twitter feed says it all: business as usual, nothing to see here.

But for others, it’s anything but business as usual. Right now, thousands of truckers, unvaccinated and vaccinated alike, are driving across the country to strong-arm Trudeau into finally ending the mandates that have been destroying Canada for two years straight.

Organizing for the convoy began well over a week ago and has taken social media by storm, ensuring all politicians know what is happening.

As True North’s Andrew Lawton reports, “Conservative leader Erin O’Toole has been asked four times and won’t say whether he supports the trucker convoy heading to Ottawa right now in protest of Justin Trudeau’s vaccine mandate.”

“A couple of asks later, he eventually said it wasn’t his place to join a protest on Parliament Hill. (MPs speak at rallies and protests all the time.),” he concludes.

Conversely, pro-freedom, anti-mandate leader Maxime Bernier is vigorously supporting the truckers by speaking at pro-trucker rallies that he and his party set up.

It’s clear who stands with truckers. And it’s clear who has the gusto to defend Canadians like a real leader and not act like a bench-warming sideliner as people lose their jobs, freedoms, and dignity.

Unfortunately, O’Toole, who is supposed to serve as the main opposition to the Liberal agenda, is once again showing his red bent, willfully allowing Trudeau to do as he pleases.
