GoFundMe started for family being evicted from Ronald McDonald House over vax status

The Ronald McDonald House has begun serving unvaccinated families eviction notices over their medical status, even though the charity supposedly exists to keep families together when kids get seriously ill.

In response to their eviction, one family from British Columbia is looking for donations to help support their family while their son receives life-saving Leukemia treatment. The financial aid is for their living expenses, which, until the eviction notice, they believed would be covered by the Ronald McDonald House (RMH).

“We love our boy, and we trust God to see us through this and restore our family; however, there is a financial burden as my wife had to leave her job and move to Vancouver for treatment and care for him,” their GoFundMe page reads.

Austin and Lindsay Furgason’s story first went viral after Austin confronted an RMH staff member over the eviction notice he was served, saying that refusal to comply with the mandate will result in removal after January 17.

“We got this last night, and it’s pretty disturbing,” Austin said to the manager. “I was just wondering if this is legit. Like everyone who’s not vaccinated is going to get evicted?”

“Well, we have a grace period [during which] you can get your first dose,” the manager responded, not daring to look at Austin’s son, whom she’ll be throwing out. “But essentially, as of January 17, it’s a board mandate from our [unintelligible].”

“So, let me get this straight,” Austin continued, “By the end of the month, my four-year-old boy with Leukemia is going to get evicted because we don’t have a vaccine?”

Throughout the confrontation, the manager essentially shuts down while Austin continues airing his grievances. She only speaks to repeat the same cold, corporate lines explaining that it’s their policy now: tough luck.

According to Ronald McDonald House’s motto, “Ronald McDonald House Charities gives families a place to stay together, close to their sick child in hospital. Because when families stay together, sick children get stronger.”

That is, unless you’re unvaccinated. If you’re unvaccinated, you’re less than dirt to them.

Anyone who is looking to support the Fergasons can click here. Their GoFundMe has received over $53,000 in support at the time of writing.

“Please help this family however you can. It’s a long road ahead, and it’s my hope that finances is the least of their concern,” the GoFundMe post continues.

“May God Heal this boy.”

The Counter Signal reached out to Ronald McDonald House, but they have yet to respond. This article will be updated if they get back to us.
