Video footage has emerged of Ontario chief medical health officer Dr. Kieran Moore partying in Toronto without a mask – just three days after he told the province he “strongly recommends” wearing one indoors.
Photos and videos reveal a maskless Moore watching a dancer perform at the Toronto Life “most influential” party. Other images show him maskless while socializing.
“Mask as I say, not as I do—Dr. Kieran Moore strongly recommends you wear masks 2 prevent children’s hospitals being overwhelmed but it does not apply to himself or dozens of above-rules friends at TorontoLife 50 Most Influential party. Pure hypocrisy like time he vacationed in DR,” tweeted the Sun’s Joe Warmington.
On Monday, Moore decided against implementing a mask mandate for the time being.
However, he said he “strongly recommends” people mask up when indoors. He even said parents should wear masks inside their own homes if they don’t feel well and have children.
“I’m very concerned about protecting our children right now, and it’s best that we protect them through masking in a home environment and in any social situation,” he said,
On Friday, Ontario’s Ministry of Health was bombarded with requests for comment after Moore’s mask hypocrisy was uncovered.
“He follows many layers of protection including screening daily for symptoms of any respiratory infection, practicing good hand hygiene, staying up to date on immunizations, masking when necessary and distancing when possible,” the ministry told CityNews.
Last year, Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek and her councillors were also caught ignoring their mask mandate.
