Rainbow “Penis Monkey” encourages young children to read at public library

A British library has gained some unwanted attention after pictures from a lewd performance for kids leaked beyond its target audience.

Redbridge Libraries hosted a rainbow clad monkey featuring a strap-on dildo to participate in its Summer Reading Challenge for kids. To the horror of local families, the library told kids on Instagram that “Monkey’s out of control. But when you’ve got it, flaunt it I suppose.”

A neighbouring public library replied “That was a shock when monkey turned round,” followed by four laughing emojis.

The sexualized “Medelsome Monkey” was joined by the “Flamboyant Frog” and “Royal Strawberry,” who put on a performance for the children.

After pictures from the event went viral, Redbridge Libraries issued a public apology, saying “one of the animal costumes was inappropriate which we were not aware of at the time of booking. We deeply apologise for the offence caused.”

Redbridge Libraries says that the performance was only terminated after parents complained.
