Peterson struck with five more complaints

Dr. Jordan Peterson announced that another five complaints have been lodged over his social media commentary, all of which pertain to one post he made that mocked Kamala Harris’s intelligence.

Peterson revealed this in a special to The National Post, one month after the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed his latest free speech appeal.

“What was my crime this time? Yet another tweet, with clear political intent, criticizing none other than Kamala Harris, who now has a chance to become the most powerful person in the world, despite doing nothing whatsoever to earn that opportunity,” Peterson said Tuesday.

His post in question sarcastically suggested watching Kamala Harris speak made one mentally retarded.

“All five complainants claim, so wonderfully and compassionately, to be objecting only to my use of the word ‘retarded’,” he said.

“Apparently, I can’t say ‘retarded’ and do not even know what to say otherwise any more when talking about children who are slow to learn, which is of course what “retarded” means, because the language police have made everything all eggshells in such situations and purposefully so,” he added.

Peterson previously challenged the mandate from Ontario’s regulatory body for psychologists that required him to attend social media training. In January 2023, Peterson revealed several complaints made against him to the College of Psychologists of Ontario. The complaints were all made anonymously.

With the Supreme Court’s latest dismissal of his challenge, there are no further opportunities for Dr. Peterson to appeal the decision, making it final. He will either be forced to undergo whatever social media training is required by the College, or he can refuse and risk having his clinical psychologist license stripped.

Peterson has previously said he will record whatever training he receives.

“I’ll comply with their regulations, but I’m not going to do it in secret… And the reason I’m not going to do it in secret is because I don’t believe I’ve done anything wrong,” he said in August 2023.
