PMO offers few hints on Trudeau’s post-divorce vacation plans

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is offering few hints as to where Justin Trudeau and his family will be headed for vacation next week following Justin Trudeau’s and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau’s separation announcement on Wednesday.

PMO offers few hints on Trudeau’s post-divorce vacation plans

Soon after the separation announcement, the PMO put out a statement painting the couple’s relationship as a “loving and collaborative environment” and announcing that the family would be together on a vacation next week.

“They remain a close family and Sophie and the Prime Minister are focused on raising their kids in a safe, loving and collaborative environment. Both parents will be a constant presence in their children’s lives and Canadians can expect to often see the family together,” said the PMO.

“The family will be together on vacation, beginning next week.”

The PMO did not elaborate on the destination of the planned vacation or if it would be taxpayer-funded.

Trudeau and his family have frequented several vacation destinations including in Tofino, British Columbia, Costa Rica and elsewhere.

Several of these vacations have landed the Prime Minister in hot water, including his most recent trip to Tofino during Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Additionally taxpayers were billed nearly $200,000 so the Trudeaus could vacation in Costa Rice while Canadians were being told to stay home during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A vacation to the Aga Khan’s private island also landed Trudeau in hot water, including earning him an ethics violation after he failed to recuse himself from a conversation that violated conflict of interest laws.

As The Counter Signal revealed earlier this afternoon, Grégoire Trudeau posted a statement on her Instagram account announcing that she would be separating from Trudeau.

“Justin and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate. As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build,” said Grégoire Trudeau.

“For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy.”

The separation comes at a low point in the Prime Minister’s popularity and a turbulent past few years leading the country.
