Police have arrested seven pro-Palestinian protesters who occupied Prime Minsiter Justin Trudeau’s riding office in Montreal’s Villeray neighbourhood.

Organized by the Montreal chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), the event demanded a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
The arrests took place after protesters refused to leave the building after its regular closing hours.
“We demand that Canada use its tax money to send aid, food, water, shelter and everything else the Palestinian people are asking for,” the group stated on social media, as first reported by La Presse.
YPM plans to gather demonstrators again to protest what they call the “genocide” in Gaza, while accusing the Trudeau Government of being complicit in the war.
Trudeau continues to state that Israel has a right to defend itself. US president Joe Biden said on Thursday there is “no possibility” of a ceasefire.
Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas’s political bureau in Gaza, told Lebanese television last week that there would be “a second, a third, a fourth” October 7.

I spoke with him today and asked how such talk is consistent with Hamas’s calls for Israel to halt their attacks on Gaza. pic.twitter.com/1EM7tRTDPX
Israel and Hamas have continued to attack one another since the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7. Neither side has expressed an interest in stopping their attack on one another. Assuming they are still alive, Hamas continues to hold about 240 Israeli hostages they abducted during their October 7 attack.
The reports of overnight shootings at Jewish schools in Montreal are horrifying. I condemn these violent acts of antisemitism in the strongest terms possible – and I want to be clear: This hate has no place in Canada, and we must all stand united against it.

The number of antisemitic hate crimes and acts of intimidation continue to escalate in Canada. On Thursday, bullet holes were found at Jewish schools in Montreal, but police haven’t announced any charges amid their investigation into the shootings.
On Wednesday, video surfaced of a professor at the University of Montreal, Yanise Arab, yelling at a Jewish student to “go back to Poland, whore.”
Being Jewish on campus in 2023: this is a University of Montreal professor backed by Concordia students calling Jewish students colonizers alongside reports of swastikas on campus. There is no way to feel safe under these conditions. Universities must act.https://t.co/jbsEN86pKi

There’s also been brazen intimidation of staff members at a Jewish cafe.
