The B.C. Prosecution Service stated that no charges have been laid against Charlotte Kates, who, on the one-year anniversary of Hamas’s attack on innocent Israelis—which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people—spoke through a megaphone in front of Vancouver’s Art Gallery, describing the attack as “brave and heroic.”

As for whether Kates will be charged with a hate crime, a BC Police Service spokesperson said the process is ongoing.

Sgt. Steve Addison also said the investigation into Kates has been sent to the Crown, where they will consider charging the terrorist-sympathizer.

Meanwhile, Conservative politicians have called for the federal Liberals to ban Samidoun, the group Kates co-founded, to be listed as a terrorist organization in Canada. Samidoun currently has charitable status in Canada.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre posted a video on Wednesday to social media, where he claimed, “Samidoun is a pro-terror group that operates in Canada despite clear and direct ties to designated terror groups.”

Manitoba-based Conservative MP, Branden Leslie, also called the protesters who celebrated October 7 “garbage human beings.” Leslie said he supports their freedom of speech, even speech he finds vile from “these idiot protesters.”

In response to the shocking footage, BC Conservative leader John Rustad has also called for Samidoun to be listed as a terrorist organization, as well as deporting temporary residents who partake in such protests.
