The Scottish Cross County Association’s Facebook posted, “We have the saddest news to share with you all today. We are devastated to relay to you the tragic news that our friend, our Champion Rab Wardell, has died overnight. Our deepest sympathy to his friends, family and loved ones. He will be truly missed by our community, and his determination, talent, and friendship will live on in all our hearts and memories.”

Just two days ago, Wardell appeared on BBC Scotland’s The Nine to talk about his victory.

Tributes for Wardell quickly followed his death, and his girlfriend, Olympic gold medalist Katie Archbald, gave a statement expressing shock at the suddenness.

“I still don’t understand what’s happened; if this is real, why he’d be taken now – so healthy and happy,” said Archbald.

“He went into cardiac arrest while we were lying in bed. I tried and tried, and the paramedics arrived within minutes, but his heart stopped, and they couldn’t bring him back.”

It isn’t clear what caused Wardell’s tragic death but those online have speculated that it’s a result of the vaccine due to the frequency of athletes passing away from heart-related issues following vaccine mandates — though Wardell’s vaccination status remains unknown to the general public.

Kyle Warner, another famous mountain biker, recently spoke about the adverse effects of vaccines.

Following his second dose of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine last summer, Warner suffered a severe adverse event and was diagnosed with Pericarditis. Subsequently, at a rally in Washington D.C., he opened up about his experience in front of thousands of rallygoers.

“We were advocating for some acknowledgment and support for those whose lives have been impacted by the emergency use authorized vaccines. I hope you can listen to my message and understand why I decided to advocate for this cause. It was never something I had planned or wanted to do, but the truth needs to be revealed,” Warner stated in an Instagram post.
