Trudeau has once again been slammed as a dictator — this time in his own parliament by Conservative MP Rachael Thomas.
In parliament yesterday, Thomas questioned if Trudeau fit the definition of a dictator, reading it aloud in front of the House.
“According to the oxford dictionary, a dictator is a ruler with total power over a country, typically one who has obtained control by force,” she said.
“There are many Canadians that would believe — that would hold the view — that this does apply to the Prime Minister of Canada.”
Of course, CBC’s Rosemary Barton came quickly to the rescue, calling Thomas “irresponsible” for attacking her Justin.
“Criticize the LPC/NDP deal all you want, but this is irresponsible rhetoric from someone who was duly elected six months ago,” she tweeted in response.
But as a user responded, Liberal MPs have called former PM Harper a dictator. In fact, 4 of them did so.
Barton hasn’t responded to the double standard pointed out — unsurprising for a correspondent employed by an organization that has to print a correction nearly every week.
Those abroad certainly agree with Thomas. During his trip to the EU, several Members of the European Parliament lambasted Trudeau over his human rights record, labelling him a “disgrace,” a “dictator,” and someone who “tramples on democratic rights.”
Thomas’ question may have been provocative, but many do wonder if we really live in a democracy anymore.
Unvaccinated Canadians remain prisoners in their own country due to Trudeau’s travel restrictions. Trudeau froze the bank accounts of peaceful Canadians for minor donations to a just cause. And he has yet to admit the invocation of the Emergencies Act and suspension of Canadians’ civil Liberties was unjustified, even after FINTRAC admitted the Convoy posed no threat.
Trudeau’s PR is at an all-time low despite his best efforts, and now MPs are becoming more brazen in calling it out.
