The RCMP have charged Gaganpreet Randhawa in connection with what is now recognized as the largest illegal drug bust in Canadian history.

Suspect Gaganpreet Randhawa charged in Canada’s biggest drug bust ever 

Police announced Thursday they seized over 500 kilograms of illegal drugs, including 54 kilograms of fentanyl, 390 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 35 kilograms of cocaine,.

The quantity of fentanyl alone could have resulted in more than 95 million potentially lethal doses.

“Gaganpreet Randhawa was identified as the main suspect, and arrested by Federal Policing Group-6 investigators. Randhawa is currently in custody, and has been charged with numerous drug, and firearms-related offences,” a RCMP statement read Thursday.

The operation revealed connections to international criminal organizations, including Mexican cartels.

The statement added, “Although our enforcement actions have dealt a decisive blow to transnational organized crime, our investigation is ongoing and our investigators are working to determine the common source of these chemicals, and all individuals involved.”

In addition, the RCMP seized 89 illegal firearms, including handguns and AR-style assault rifles, along with explosive devices and $500,000 in cash. 

Gaganpreet Randhawa has been charged with multiple offenses, including the export and possession of controlled substances, possession of prohibited firearms and devices, and possession of explosive devices, following his arrest in connection with Canada’s largest illegal drug bust.
