‘Taxpayers should go on strike,’ Pierre Poilievre says

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said that taxpayers should go on strike so long as federal services that they pay for are not being provided by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Liberal party.

‘Taxpayers should go on strike,’ Pierre Poilievre says

In a video posted to TikTok, Poilievre allegedly spoke to leaders in the Korean community, and questioned what is happening with tax dollars under Trudeau.

“I think that taxpayers should go on strike,” Poilievre remarked. “If you’re not getting government services, why are you paying for them,” he added.

“I mean isn’t it crazy? You know you’re all paying for passport service, immigration services, veteran’s services, indigenous services that aren’t being delivered and yet you have to keep paying,” he continued.

“In fact, the tax deadline is coming up in just a few days. But you’re paying to get less and worse and sometimes nothing at all. This is the incredible incompetence of Justin Trudeau,” the video concludes.

The video perhaps stems from a February 18, 2023 event where Poilievre met with Korean community leaders in Edmonton.

“The Korean community leaders that I met in Edmonton want to make Canada the freest country on earth, so they can work hard and achieve their dreams,” he wrote on Twitter.

Poilievre’s appearance in Edmonton in 2022 saw a impressive turnout, which saw a massive lineup to speak with the conservative candidate.

The leader of the opposition continues to be on a country-wide tour promoting his platform, most recently stopping in Toronto for a photo op to celebrate a traditional spring harvest with members of the Sikh community.

The same day, Poilievre celebrated “Journey to Freedom Day” with an online video that honoured Vietnamese refugees.

“On Journey to Freedom Day, we remember Vietnamese refugees who risked everything to seek freedom & a better future in Canada. Their story reminds us to continue building a Canada on hard work, family and freedom,” the conservative leader wrote.
