The Fast and the Freeland: DPM granted roadside leniency

Liberal Finance and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland has confirmed that she was pulled over and charged for speeding in Alberta last week.

The Fast and the Freeland: DPM granted roadside leniency

A senior communications advisor told The Counter Signal that Freeland was pulled over by police for speeding — and stated that she was docked at going 132km/h.

“The Deputy Prime Minister was pulled over for driving 132km/h while travelling between Grande Prairie and Peace River. She received a ticket for $273, which she has paid in full. She was driving a rental car at the time,” said Katherine Cuplinskas, Freeland’s Senior Comms advisor and Press Secretary.

However, sources allege that Freeland was indeed clocked at driving 142km/h, but she was granted roadside leniency by the police officer who pulled her over, as previously reported exclusively by The Counter Signal.

Before Freeland’s office confirmed that she was caught for speeding, sources told The Counter Signal that Freeland was charged on August 15th while she was driving alone in the Peace River area without an RCMP security detail.

Freeland was in Alberta on official business on behalf of Justin Trudeau to inspect industrial facilities and meet with Premier Danielle Smith.

Freeland is a renowned cyclist, quite often showing pictures of herself riding her bike. She has also claimed that she does not own a car.

Last month, federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre mocked Freeland for telling Prince Edward Islanders to ride their bike instead of using a car, as a way to deal with the Liberal’s carbon tax.

“Freeland’s message to Prince Edward Islanders worried about 61c/litre carbon tax: move to Toronto and get a bike!!!” Poilievre said.
