Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has cancelled all of his year-end interviews, according to Global News, and still hasn’t taken questions from reporters since former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland publicly scolded him.
According to Mercedes Stephenson of Global News, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has cancelled all of his scheduled year-end interviews that he generally does with legacy media outlets.
“I was supposed to have a year end interview with the Prime Minister tomorrow for Global News. PMO just called to tell us it is cancelled. Not just us, year enders across the board not happening,” she posted to X.
The development comes three days after Trudeau fired his Finance Minister, reportedly offering her a demotion to stay in his cabinet, which she refused. Freeland accused Trudeau of “costly political gimmicks” in her public resignation letter.
A number of Liberal MPs, and former MPs, have called on the Prime Minister to step down, including his former Environment Minister Catherine McKenna. Even the editorial board for The Toronto Star, known for effectively running his PR campaign with weekly “opinion” Poilievre hit-pieces, called for the PM to step down.
Speculation that Trudeau will resign remains high, while the Prime Minister is being called “delusional” and “viscerally disliked” by his own MPs.
