Prime Minister Justin Trudeau couldn’t put his ego aside after being trolled by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, publicly accusing Trump as being a step backwards for social progress in America, and the world.

Trudeau made his comments Tuesday night while speaking at an event hosted by the Equal Voice Foundation.

“It shouldn’t be that way. It wasn’t supposed to be that way. We were supposed to be on a steady, if difficult sometimes, march towards progress,” Trudeau said.

He continued, “And yet, just a few weeks ago, the United States voted for a second time to not elect its first woman president. Everywhere, women’s rights and women’s progress is under attack. Overtly, and subtly.”

This comes just five weeks after Trump won the 2024 U.S. election, after which Trudeau said he was looking forward to working with Trump again.

Trump’s Tariff Threat

Two weeks ago, Trump threatened 25% tariffs on all products coming from Canada and Mexico unless both countries stepped up on border security, amid skyrocketing rates of illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

Subsequently, Trudeau rushed to Mar-a-Lago to speak with President Trump, and claimed it was a productive conversation. However, Trump later trolled Trudeau by posting an AI-generated picture of himself standing next to a Canadian flag while looking across rocky mountains, with a caption that read, “Oh, Canada!”

According to Fox News, Trump reportedly made a joke to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during their dinner, stating that if his proposed tariffs would significantly harm Canada’s economy, Canada should consider becoming the 51st state of the United States, with Trudeau as its governor.

In recounting their dinner, Trump posted to his Truth Social account on Monday, “It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada. I look forward to seeing the Governor again soon so that we may continue our in depth talks on Tariffs and Trade, the results of which will be truly spectacular for all! DJT”

Starting immediately after U.S. President Biden was elected in 2020, the Trudeau Liberals smeared Trump and “MAGA Conservatives” for four years, but quickly pivoted after Trump re-won the White House on November 4 of this year.

Fast forward five weeks, and Trudeau is now publicly insulting Trump, prioritizing his ego over the greatest economic threat to Canada of this century.
