Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reiterated false claims about the discovery of unmarked graves of Indigenous children at former residential school sites on Monday.
Speaking at an Indigenous history month reception in Ottawa, Trudeau, who regularly laments over “misinformation and disinformation” falsely stated that “In recent years, the discovery of unmarked graves has been an awakening for people across Canada.”
He added, “An awakening to the truth that you all already knew.”
Following his remarks, the attendees clapped for his speech.
Yet, to this day, not one body has been identified at any former residential school in Canada.
Last year, the results of the four week excavation at a former Manitoba residential school site were announced quietly late Friday afternoon, which turned up nothing but dirt and rocks.
MSM perpetuating false narrative
Recently, City News also falsely stated mass graves of Indigenous children were discovered at the former sites of residential schools, only to later correct their claim.
CTV also had on a BC Chief who acknowledged mass graves have never been verified, claiming that the reason they might never be found is “because [children’s bodies] were incinerated.”
It was the latest twist in the mass graves saga, which to date remains unproven, with some calling it an outright hoax.
Just like the mass graves claim, there’s no historical proof or documentation of incinerators ever being used. However, some former residential school attendees have claimed they existed.
There remain horrifying accounts of abuse and mistreatment that took place at certain residential schools across Canada between 1883 — 1996, including documentation of a higher death rate, in some cases as high as one in twenty students (mostly due to tuberculosis).
But after three years — and zero bodies — the Prime Minister of Canada continues to repeat what some are calling an outright hoax.
