Former Trudeau MP Adam Vaughan has taken to peddling conspiracy theories, suggesting a screenshot of a video is a doctored photo to make Pierre Poilievre rallies look bigger than they are.
“One of the hardest parts of photoshop is getting the shadows right…they are all in the same room…or are they,” Vaughan wrote in a Tweet accompanied with a screenshot with classic red circles pockmarking the photo.
“This many shadows from different angles is odd…especially when sunlight outside is back lighting the range of exposures and angles…Sgt Pepper Lonely Candidates Band.”
Of course, as anyone can see from videos of the rally — which were filmed from multiple angles by multiple people — it’s clear that, unless an entire team is constructing sophisticated deep fakes, the rally really is as big as it looks. Poilievre managed to pack the room, and apparently, that’s getting under Liberals’ skin.
The video in question is from yesterday, where Poilievre led a chant to defund Trudeau’s federally funded broadcaster, the CBC — certainly not what Liberals want to hear when the CBC has been so good to them.
Poilievre has long claimed that he’ll defund the CBC, calling them a “great waste” and that their journalism can easily be done by independent media.
“It’s true that I will cut the CBC’s budget since it’s a great waste — they waste an enormous amount of money,” said Poilievre. “Nearly everything the CBC does in English is already available on the market. Governments should only do what the market cannot do,” Poilievre said in an interview with Rebel News.
“But nearly everything we see from the CBC — on TV, on the internet — is already available from other sources… there is a lot of waste for the CBC. I will cut the budget, we will save money, and we’ll allow people to choose their own media sources.”
It’s unclear if the CBC will publish Vaughan’s very important photoshop theory later today. But, given the CBC’s track record, it’s not out of the question.
