Trudeau seeks to censor news leaked by anonymous sources

The Liberal Party of Canada passed a non-binding motion that aims to censor news stories that come from anonymous sources.

Trudeau seeks to censor news leaked by anonymous sources

One proposed policy resolution from the Liberal Party Convention in early May is titled “Combatting Disinformation in Canada.”

The motion appears a direct response to the recent bombshell reports from the Globe and Mail and Global News that indicated the Trudeau government has done nothing about Intelligence reports of Chinese interference.

This latest censorship motion calls to “Request the Government explore options to hold on-line information services accountable for the veracity of material published on their platforms and to limit publication only to material whose sources can be traced.”

On Monday, even CBC reporter Evan Dyer noted the bleakness of the motion.

“The #Liberal Party of Canada passed a non-binding motion at its #lpc23 convention that would ban all of the current reporting on Chinese interference and threats, put journalism under government control, and spell the end of freedom of the press in Canada,” Dyer said.

This non-binding motion also called to give additional funding to news outlets that are “advertisement free,” an implicit attack against non-government subsidized media that rely on advertisers to survive.

In February, Robert Fife from the Globe and Mail reported that the CCP “employed a sophisticated strategy” to interfere in the outcome of the 2021 election so that the Trudeau Liberals could form a minority government.

“The Liberal Party of Canada is becoming the only party that the PRC can support,” said a Chinese consulate, as quoted in Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) documents.

“Most important, the intelligence reports show that Beijing was determined that the Conservatives did not win,” Fife said.

“China employed disinformation campaigns and proxies connected to Chinese-Canadian organizations in Vancouver and the GTA, which have large mainland Chinese immigrant communities, to voice opposition to the Conservatives and favour the Trudeau Liberals,” he added.

Meanwhile, Global News broke the story that the CCP secretly funded at least 11 CCP-affiliated candidates in Canada’s 2019 federal election.

The Chinese interference allegations and quotes came from alleged anonymous Canadian Intelligence leakers.
