Research and Co.’s annual ‘Worst Prime Minister’ poll reveals Justin Trudeau has secured the title once again.
Since the pollsters started asking the question in 2020, Trudeau has seen gains in the category every year.
In their August 2024 poll, 38% of respondents said Justin Trudeau is the worst PM in Canadian history, a percentage point that’s more than double that of the second place recipient (Stephen Harper, 14%).
Trudeau received 18% of the votes in 2020, 22% in 2021, 29% in 2022, 30% in 2023, and now 38% in 2024, suggesting there’s more to it than the recency bias effect.
To this point, a July poll by Mainstream Research revealed that 60% of Canadians want Justin Trudeau to step down as the country’s Prime Minister.
October 2025
The Trudeau Liberals remain projected to get blown out in the next election, although much can change from now until October 2025. The Conservatives are currently polling at 42% compared to the Liberals hovering around 25%.
The Conservative’s leader, Pierre Poilievre, recently called Trudeau a “world-class embarrassment” after the Prime Minister delivered a speech at Washington’s NATO summit to an empty room full of chairs.
