Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s national campaign director, Jeremy Broadhurst, has abruptly quit, allegedly claiming that he doesn’t believe the Liberals can win the next election.

According to the Toronto Star, Broadhurst’s decision blindsided Trudeau’s Chief of Staff, Katie Telford. Telford told the Star their sources are wrong, but didn’t deny that Broadhurst quit.
“Broadhurst told the prime minister he didn’t think Trudeau could win the next election and that [he] should be replaced with someone who felt Trudeau could win a fourth term,” the Star reported.
The next election isn’t slated until October 2025. However, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh announced on Wednesday that he’s ending his pact with the Liberal Party that protected the Prime Minister from non-confidence votes, meaning an election could be triggered any day.

If a confidence motion is tabled and the majority of MPs vote against the current government, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be forced to dissolve parliament and face the music.
The latest polling update shows the federal Conservatives are still projected to win a majority government with 210 seats. The Liberals are expected to come in second with 81 seats.
Trudeau’s re-brand failing
In November of last year, Trudeau hired a branding specialist to try and convince Canadians to like him more, appointing marketing veteran Max Valiquette as the executive director of communications for the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
