A new Twitter Files dropped on Thursday that suggests the World Health Organization (WHO) colluded with Twitter to get Tucker Carlson censored.
Journalist Paul. E Thacker released the most recent installment of files provided by new Twitter CEO Elon Musk. An earlier release revealed that the pre-Musk era social media company blacklisted a Stanford medical expert who criticized Covid restrictions.
“Why did Twitter censor Tucker Carlson? Better yet, who helped Twitter do that? #TuckerTwitterFiles,” Thacker said.
In June 2021, Carlson penned an op-ed for Fox News that pointed out the WHO specifically stated on its website that children “should not” get COVID vaccinated because there hadn’t been enough testing.
Carlson’s op-ed was titled “The COVID vaccine is dangerous for kids, Big Tech doesn’t want you to know that.”
Subsequently, the WHO deleted the passage that Carlson had quoted from its webpage, making Carlson’s claim appear incorrect.
The next day, Twitter officials started having internal conversations over censoring Carlson’s op-ed. Multiple censorship strategies were considered.
“Back and forth emails find Twitter officials scrambling to control vaccine information and limit damage to the WHO,” Thacker said.
The Twitter employee who introduced the idea of censoring Carlson was a former staffer from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s office, Elizabeth Busby.
Ultimately, Twitter decided not to censor Carlson’s op-ed, with officials expressing too much concern over the political backlash.
Fox News released a statement on Monday that indicated the network has parted ways with Carlson.
On Wednesday, Carlson broke his silence by posting a social media video that teased viewers.
“Good evening it’s Tucker Carlson,” he stated, as per his usual Fox News introduction.
“Where can you still find Americans that are saying true things?” he asked.
“See you soon,” he added.
Within 12 hours, Carlson’s video had received 50 million views.
